£600 Cashback Launched By Phoenix Energy To Help Households Move From Oil To Gas

Phoenix Energy has introduced a £600 installation cashback scheme to encourage households to replace oil boilers with gas.

The initiative, called the Boiler Replacement Allowance, was unveiled at a Northern Ireland Network Gas Association breakfast event at the La Mon Hotel in Belfast, attended by more than 120 local gas installers. Representatives from leading boiler manufacturers, including Alpha, Baxi, Glow-worm, Ideal, Vaillant and Worcester Bosch, were also present.

The allowance is open to households within the Phoenix Energy licensed area — Greater Belfast, Larne, Whitehead, Carrickfergus and East Down — with a gross annual income of under £90,000. It is intended to ease the upfront costs of moving from oil or other heating systems to natural gas, which can be up to 50% less carbon intensive, helping households upgrade to a cleaner and more efficient option.

Delivered in partnership with local charity Action Renewables, the offer runs until 30 June 2026. Action Renewables will manage administrative processing, including eligibility checks, underscoring the organisations’ shared focus on energy efficiency and sustainability.

Speaking at the launch event, Neil McCracken, General Sales Manager at Phoenix Energy, said: "I am delighted to see so many of our local installation companies here to find out more about how we can help customers locally to switch from oil to gas. We know many households are keen to switch to gas in order to enjoy more reliable and efficient home heating, but often installation cost can be a barrier. Our £600 Boiler Replacement Allowance, coupled with the free connection to our network that Phoenix can typically offer as standard, is a practical way to help families make the change improving home comfort and energy efficiency while making the process more accessible."
