Water Main Upgrade To Begin On Cornagrade Road In Enniskillen

Construction News Image

NI Water will begin work in early August to upgrade water infrastructure on Cornagrade Road, Enniskillen, with the scheme expected to take around six weeks.

Approximately 400 metres of new watermain will be installed from Cherrymount Roundabout from Monday 3 August, extending to the second entrance to Kilmacormick Road.

To facilitate construction, a lane closure will operate around each active work area, with sections kept as short as possible at about 100 metres. Temporary traffic lights and clear signage will be used to manage traffic.

Access to residential and business properties on and off Cornagrade Road will be maintained at all times. However, parking bays within the live works area will be temporarily unavailable as the pipelaying progresses, and any bus stop within the active section will be moved on a temporary basis.

Gary McFadden, NI Water Senior Project Manager, said: "This essential upgrade work will allow for the essential maintenance of the local water supply network, benefitting customers in the Enniskillen area.

"Traffic management and signage will be in place at all times and we would like to remind the public that construction sites are dangerous areas and appeal for children and young people to "stay safe" around site and machinery. Working areas will have warning signs in place to protect the public from any hazards."

"Every effort will be made to complete the main pipelaying work by the end of August. Some connection work is then planned to be undertaken at night in September to minimise disruption to school traffic.

"NI Water and our project team from McAdam and GRAHAM Construction would like to thank local residents and motorists for their patience and cooperation while this essential work is carried out."
