Construction News Image

Following reports of damage to Boghead Road Bridge in Lower Ballinderry, Department for Infrastructure (DfI) engineers attended the site and confirmed issues affecting the bridge structure. In the interests of public safety, a section of Boghead Bridge Road has been closed with immediate effect.

Engineers are carrying out detailed structural assessments to ascertain the full extent of the damage and to identify the most appropriate remedy.

Once these assessments are completed, the Department will be able to provide further details on the proposed works and indicative timescales.

Local diversions are in place via the U1005 Diamond Lane, the C10 Brankinstown Road and the U1004 (Off Brankinstown Road). Road users are urged to follow the diversion signage, drive with care and allow extra time for their journeys.

The Department acknowledges the closure will cause local disruption and delays and apologises for any inconvenience caused; however, the safety of all road users remains its primary concern.
