Department Urged To Set Up Temporary Offices

Fine Gael is calling on the Department of Social Affairs to set up temporary offices in Edenderry after a fire extensively damaged a pig meat processing plant.

However, proposals are being considered to move the plant to the Glanbia building in Roscrea.


Around 280 workers, including foreign nationals, now on protective notice, could be transported to work in the company's Tipperary plant.

A spokesperson said that the plant may not return to production for some time, but the company was working on a contingency plan for its employees, customers and suppliers.
