Irish architectural hardware distributor, Avenco, has been sold to a British building materials group for 23 million euro.
Heywood Williams, a specialist distributor of branded building products also owns Mila, the hardware, door and window fabricators in Ireland.
Avenco has two principal operating companies, Locks and Hardware Limited and Balmar Limited, and they are also exclusive suppliers of Heywood Williams’ Carlisle Brass Group products.
“We are very pleased with the acquisition, and have no doubt that the business will continue to prosper as part of the Heywood Williams Group,” commented Russell Shannon, MD of Avenco.
Balmar and Locks and Hardware will be led by present MDs Eoin Corcoran and Eamon Power.
Heywood Williams chief executive Robert Barr, said: “The acquisition builds on our strategic purchase last year of Carlisle Brass and further strengthens our position in the architectural hardware market.
“It provides a strong platform for new product introductions in the future and further enhances our already strong position in the hardware market in Ireland.”
Avenco employs 37 people and had sales of 16.5m euro last year.
