A Galway firm responsible for the construction of a second terminal at Dublin Airport has reported turnover of over €95 million.
With pretax profits of €1.25 million, the Galway company owned by Patrick, Thomas and Olive Coffey gained a substantial tranche of the €180 million in contracts for the construction of the terminal.
Low cost airline Ryanair has applied for a Judicial review into the planning permission decision, which Galway’s Coffey Construction have capitalised on, arguing that the cost is much too high.
Construction of the new Terminal 2 70,000 square metre building is expected to start next February, and scheduled for completion for the end of 2009.
Coffey Construction, a 493 people strong construction company established in 1974, gained the cladding element of the contract. Other contractors working on the terminal include Alandale Logistics, Fitzpatrick, Laing O’Rourke, the McAvoy Group, Siac, and Watson Steel Structures.
The Terminal is set to open in 2010 and is estimated to increase Dublin Airport's capacity to 32 million passengers.
