The High Court in Ireland has ordered a two-week adjournment on a nationwide electricians' pay dispute case.
The court has heard a challenge to the system of setting pay and conditions for the country's electricians.
Last week 460 electrical contractors were granted an injunction in the Labour Court against wage and conditions set by the Registered Employment Agreement system.
Until the case is progressed, thousands of electricians across the island will not receive a 5% pay rise, which could have been implemented by the Labour Court, under the terms of the Registered Employment Agreement.
If the electricians' challenge fails there could be massive implications for hundreds of thousands of workers in multiple sectors, whose pay and conditions are set in the same way.
