Shorcontrol Safety Receive Acoustics Accreditation

Leading Irish safety firm, Shorcontrol Safety, has been awarded accreditation by the Institute of Acoustics (IOA) for Stephen Magee, who operated from its training centre in Naas, Kildare.

Shorcontrol Safety, who specialises in training, equipment and consultancy, has already been accredited for FÁS FEETAC, CSCS, IOSH and RoSPA courses.

The firm now has the ability to provide new training courses for workplace noise risk assessment; consultancy for risk assessment and on-site noise monitoring.

To launch its latest accreditation, Shorcontrol has announced the first such course to be held in Ireland.

This course is the 'Certificate of Competence in Workplace Noise Risk Assessment' which will be held from Sept 16th - 19th at the Shorcontrol Training Centre in Naas.

There will be a revision day on November 6th and the certified exam on November 7th. Contents of the course include:

  • Sound and Decibels
  • Noise Propagation outdoors and Indoors
  • Sound Level Meters
  • Noise Assessment Methodology
  • Hearing Loss and Protection
  • Legislation and compliance
  • An introduction to Noise Control
This Certificate course provides a recognised course of education and training to enable persons to carry out workplace noise assessments in a competent manner, as required by legislation.

With the introduction of the new regulations, demand for competent noise exposure assessments is increasing and this course provides a background of basic acoustics combined with 'hands on' practical experience of industrial noise measurements and associated assessment of workplace noise exposure.

Attendees will take the certificate at the Shorcontrol Safety Accredited Centre in Naas, Kildare.

Attendance at the Centre is usually for four days, plus the examination day, which includes a practical test.

The course will be of particular interest to companies in the Manufacturing; Pharmaceutical, Construction, Food & Beverage and Local Authority sectors.
