Irish transport firm Iarnród Éireann has said it intends to repair a collapsed railway bridge in November.
However, the company said a full report into the Malahide incident may not be published for another six months.
TDs have visited the site, where they were reassured by rail officials works would be progressed.
Transport committee member Fergus O'Dowd said repair standards should be verified by an independent body.
Last month, a 20-metre section of the line - which runs from Belfast to Dublin - plunged into water. Tragedy was averted and no one was injured.
A train driver had spotted subsidence on the line while crossing the viaduct, and reported the fault after safely reaching Malahide Station.
However, the bridge collapsed a short time later.
