NI firm Saliis has installed almost 600 Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) homes with solar panels.
The £5 million contract, between the NIHE and Saliis Ltd, is based on the 'rent a roof' model and has resulted in tenants saving money.
Noel Rice, NIHE's Energy Conservation Manager, said: "We are delighted with the progress of our solar panel scheme and the positive feedback to date from tenants. Almost 600 homes have seen panels installed and our tenants are starting to see the savings. This summer, when the daylight hours are longer, will really show the difference the panels can make."
Noel Hynes, Commercial Director of Saliis Ltd, said: "The installation of the solar PV panels is a simple process being installed in less than a day and it can offer year on year savings of a householders' annual electricity bills. We are pleased this partnership with the Housing Executive’s making a real difference to people's lives."
