Murphy's Plant team has been named Sustainability World Ambassadors at the International CSR Excellence & Green World Ambassador Awards. The programme, run by The Green Organisation, celebrates companies that use their influence to support colleagues, communities, customers, the environment and those in need.
The accolade reflects Murphy's drive to become a greener business with positive impacts where it operates. Highlights cited include the Plant team's Green World Champion Award for ongoing sustainability work and the Uxbridge Moor project team's Building & Construction – Sustainability win for the early, practical adoption of hydrogen power.
Over the past five years, Murphy reports a 57% reduction in total carbon emissions, investment of more than £137m in state-of-the-art plant and equipment, and delivery of its 'Murphy at 75' pledge to plant 5,000 trees annually, including one for every new starter. The UK business now runs on 100% renewable energy, with the same shift under way in other regions.
The company is also helping to position the Lower Thames Crossing as a nationally significant carbon Pathfinder project, aiming to set new standards for low‑carbon construction, with expanded use of electric and hydrogen-powered plant by 2027.
Together, these measures underpin Murphy's 'A greener Murphy' roadmap to net zero — a long-term commitment to sustainability, legacy and responsibility that aligns with the expectations of its customers, people and future generations. Further information is available on the company's ESG pages and in its latest annual report.
