A new housing development has been unveiled in County Kildare by local council following the successful completion of construction works.
A total of 18 new residential units at Blackrath Ridge in Athgarvan were delivered under the Rebuilding Ireland Action Plan.
The development consists of three one-bedroom houses, two two-bedroom houses and 13 three-bedroom houses, all of which have an 'A' BER rating and finished to a high standard. Additionally, three of the units are Universally Designed, Accessible and Age Friendly, single-storey houses.
Annette Aspell, Director of Services, Housing & Regeneration, Kildare County Council, said: "Kildare County Council welcome the completion of these 18 housing units, this project is a testament to our commitment to providing high-quality, accessible, and age-friendly homes for the community. We are proud to see the positive impact it will have on the lives of the new tenants and the broader community."
Colm O'Sullivan, Deaton Lysaght Architects (DLA), added: "Deaton Lysaght Architects is proud to have served as Employer's Representative and Design Team Leader for the successful completion of 18 new social houses for Kildare County Council at Mountainview, Athgarvan, Co. Kildare.
"This project underscores DLA's dedication to designing sustainable and high-quality homes, evidenced by the achievement of an "A" Building Energy Rating for each dwelling. Our design approach for Mountainview prioritised the creation of attractive and resident-friendly spaces that thoughtfully embrace the site's spectacular views of the mountains to the south and east. We are particularly pleased with how the development seamlessly integrates with the existing community, a key consideration throughout the design and construction process.
"DLA congratulates Kildare County Council on the official opening of these much-needed homes and is confident that they will provide a positive and thriving environment for their new residents."
Additional works in the area included the construction of a new granite-capped limestone effect wall, to separate the existing Mountain View estate from the main road, and the installation of new surface water drainage connecting to a Nature Based attenuation system, to serve both Blackrath Ridge and Mountain View.
