Cork County Council has launched an online survey to assess demand for affordable housing across the county. The findings will guide the planning of future affordable housing schemes and help shape eligibility requirements.
The survey is aimed at first-time buyers and others who believe they may qualify to purchase an affordable home. It is available via the Cork County Council website and will remain open for six weeks.
"This survey will provide valuable insights into the size and accessibility needs for affordable housing, as well as help identify where these homes should be located. I encourage anyone who believes they may be eligible for an affordable home to take a few minutes to complete this short survey." said the Mayor of the County of Cork, Cllr. Mary Linehan Foley.
Respondents are asked to share information such as income, household size, disability status and other relevant details. The data will help the Council build a clearer picture of local affordable housing need and support decisions on the scale, design and location of future developments.
The Council is progressing the delivery of homes for affordable purchase at several locations under the Government's Delivering Homes, Building Communities 2025–2030 plan, supporting people on low to moderate incomes to buy their own homes.
The Affordable Purchase Scheme is open to eligible first-time buyers and Fresh Start applicants who meet income, property and residency criteria. Fresh Start applies to people who previously owned a home but no longer have a financial interest in it due to significant life changes, such as separation, divorce, bankruptcy or insolvency.
The survey is for information-gathering purposes only; there will be no follow-up correspondence once it closes. All data will be collected and retained in full compliance with Cork County Council's Data Protection Policy and GDPR.
