Ardian, a global private investment firm, has completed the acquisition of Energia Group from I Squared Capital, marking a significant milestone for the energy company and reinforcing its future growth ambitions.
The acquisition is expected to support Energia Group's ongoing investment in the energy transition and demonstrates Ardian’s long-term confidence in the company’s strategic position within the market.
The company confirmed that the transaction will not affect its day-to-day operations or relationships with stakeholders.
"The transaction will have no impact on customers, employees, partners or suppliers and we remain committed to delivering our strategy and supporting Ireland’s sustainable energy future."
The announcement comes amid a period of major activity and expansion for Energia Group, particularly in renewable energy and infrastructure development.
In recent months, the company successfully completed the commissioning of two additional onshore wind farms, adding 50 MW of renewable electricity capacity to the grid. The projects are supported by Corporate Power Purchase Agreements with Microsoft.
Alongside these developments, Energia Group highlighted several key initiatives currently underway, including the commencement of construction on its first utility-scale solar farm.
The company has also reported progress across a substantial pipeline of new onshore wind and solar projects aimed at contributing to Ireland’s 2030 climate and energy targets.
Further investment is taking place through the construction of the Huntstown Data Centre, which Energia described as a leading example of the growing opportunities at the intersection of energy and data in supporting a modern economy.
In addition, contracts have been signed for the refurbishment of the Huntstown power plants, which the company says will continue to play a critical role in ensuring security of supply in the years ahead.
Energia Group also stated that it has continued to focus on customer service and innovation through new products and services designed to help customers take greater control of their energy future.
