Farrans has achieved Level 3 — the highest band — in Business in the Community Northern Ireland’s Take 5 Steps to Wellbeing Workplace Accreditation, delivered in partnership with Belfast Health and Social Care Trust.
The recognition underscores the company's commitment to creating a workplace where health, wellbeing and happiness are central to its operations.
The Take 5 model encourages individuals and organisations to adopt five evidence-based actions that support positive mental health and wellbeing. Securing the top tier indicates that wellbeing is embedded throughout Farrans' culture, policies and day-to-day practice, rather than treated as a standalone initiative.
The accreditation reflects the efforts of the company's Health & Wellbeing Committee, supported by Health & Wellbeing Champions across the business, who have delivered a comprehensive programme.
Initiatives include individual health checks and wellbeing assessments; mental health awareness and support programmes; financial wellbeing guidance; a comprehensive health benefits package; a recently introduced Wellbeing Fund to bring teams together through wellbeing-focused activities across sites and offices; and a year-round calendar of engagement events and activities.
Farrans said achieving Level 3 is an important milestone, noting that research consistently shows workplaces prioritising wellbeing benefit from higher engagement, improved morale, stronger collaboration and a healthier, more resilient workforce.
The company credited colleagues across the business for embracing wellbeing initiatives and helping to foster a positive, supportive workplace culture, and thanked its Health & Wellbeing Committee, Wellbeing Champions and all employees for their continued commitment.
Looking ahead, Farrans plans to build on this success by further developing initiatives that support the health, wellbeing and success of its people, reinforcing its aim to create a healthier workplace and a stronger future for everyone.
