The Land Development Agency (LDA) has announced details of the application process for 328 new Cost Rental apartments at Woodbrook in Shankill, Dublin 18, with monthly rents starting at €1,495.
The A-rated apartments are being made available in two phases, with applications for both phases due to open on Tuesday, 20 October, at 12pm. The application portal will remain open for seven days.
The development comprises 102 one-bedroom apartments, 220 two-bedroom apartments and six two-bedroom duplex apartments.
Monthly rents have been set at €1,495 for one-bedroom apartments, €1,665 for two-bedroom apartments and €1,750 for two-bedroom duplex units.
Cost Rental is a long-term rental option designed to provide more affordable housing for people who do not qualify for other State housing supports but face difficulties meeting the cost of renting in the private market. Rents under the scheme are at least 25% below comparable market rates.
Prospective applicants are advised to consult the LDA website for full details of the application process, eligibility criteria and the permitted number of occupants for each apartment type.
The Woodbrook apartments have been delivered through the LDA’s Project Tosaigh initiative, which involves partnerships with homebuilders to provide the financial support needed to bring housing developments to completion.
Under the initiative, completed homes are owned by the LDA and made available for rent or purchase through the Government’s Starter Home Supports programmes.
The apartments have been delivered in partnership with Castlethorn as part of the wider Woodbrook development, which is planned to include a crèche, primary school and neighbourhood centre.
The development is located beside Woodbrook DART station and Shanganagh Park, with views across Woodbrook Golf Club and Dublin’s coastline. Residents will also have access to a main bus route, while the M11 and M50 are within easy reach.
Situated between the coast and the mountains, Woodbrook is close to Shankill and Bray, with retail services, employment centres and a range of primary and secondary schools nearby.
The apartments are also located close to Shanganagh Castle Estate, where the LDA, in partnership with Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council, has delivered 597 affordable purchase, Cost Rental and social homes.
The latest release adds to the supply of affordable rental accommodation in south Dublin, offering eligible households an alternative to renting in the private market.
