Sinn Féin TD Thomas Gould has urged the Minister to immediately publish details on Derelict Sites Levy collections for 2024, citing concerns over transparency and accountability.

Mr Gould, spokesperson on Urban Regeneration & Renewal, Public Realm and Local Government, criticised the delay in releasing the information, which he said has been in the Minister’s possession since March.

He said: "The Minister has announced a war on dereliction. In reality, it seems he has actually launched a war on accountability and transparency. It is now November and he continues to refuse to release the data on derelict site levy collections, CPOs and register entries.

"The Minister has had this data since March but continues to refuse to release it to the public. I have asked for this data twelve times since April and I have been told, since 1st July, that it would be published ‘shortly’ or ‘in the coming weeks’. If the Minister is so serious about his war on dereliction, why will he not provide us with the data?

"What we need now from the Minister is the publication of this data and a firm commitment that all levies owed will be recouped by Revenue. There are tens of millions owed across this state by landhoarders and speculators. They cannot be allowed to walk away from this debt. Ordinary people who owe money on bills or taxes do not get to walk away from them. Those who leave homes to rot in a housing emergency cannot be given that privilege."
