Uisce Éireann has completed a major upgrade to the drinking water network between Dunhill and Ballyvadden, improving security, reliability and resilience for communities along the Waterford coast, including Ballylaneen, Bunmahon, Kill and Annestown.

The investment supports households, local businesses and essential services that rely on a consistent, clean water supply.

The previous infrastructure in these areas struggled to meet demand and was vulnerable to restrictions that affected local residents. This strategic rationalisation replaces ageing assets with a modern, dependable network designed to meet day‑to‑day needs across the coastal communities.

At the heart of the scheme is a new 7.6km rising water main linking Dunhill to the Ballyvadden Reservoir, creating a direct, robust connection to supply from the Sporthouse Reservoir. The project also tackles ongoing operational challenges at the old Ballylaneen Water Treatment Plant and provides the resilience and capacity needed to support homes and businesses into the future.

The upgrade included the installation of a new booster pump at Dunhill and the delivery of a high‑capacity main to meet both current and future demand. Mallwood Ltd carried out the works on behalf of Uisce Éireann.
