Inside WEI's Research Team: Driving Ireland's Clean Energy Transition

Construction News Image

At Wind Energy Ireland, the WEI Research team focuses on evidence-based analysis, knowledge-sharing and partnerships so that findings inform decisions across the energy system.

From contributing to national and EU-funded initiatives to shaping policy and improving how results are communicated, the team is geared towards turning research into outcomes that matter.

Its work spans energy, climate, the environment, skills and education—building the data, expertise and future workforce needed to meet Ireland's renewable goals. By collaborating across the sector, WEI Research helps guide investments and policies that will shape the country's energy future.

Alongside its policy focus, the team is engaged in a growing portfolio of joint projects at both Irish and European level, strengthening the pipeline of innovation and practical solutions.

A key strength is convening people. With more than 200 member companies across the renewable sector, Wind Energy Ireland can connect researchers with industry to share insights, develop ideas and forge stronger collaborations.

Working closely with universities, project partners, government bodies and businesses, WEI Research ensures that studies reflect real-world challenges while supporting innovation across the sector.

Impact depends on more than producing reports. The team brings communications, dissemination and stakeholder engagement expertise—crafting strategies, engaging audiences, and organising workshops and industry events—to ensure research reaches the people who can use it.

This blend of research capability and industry links helps move evidence into action.

As Ireland's renewable sector expands, the role of WEI Research is growing too. Whether supporting evidence-led policy, delivering collaborative projects or building partnerships across Ireland and Europe, the team is committed to a cleaner, more secure energy future.
