FP McCann has been appointed as the main contractor to deliver an expansion of the Park and Ride at Ballymena Bus/Rail Station, supporting Translink's strategy to promote sustainable travel and improve access to public transport across Northern Ireland.
The scheme is a significant infrastructure investment that will provide 392 safe, secure parking spaces, increasing capacity and making it easier for more people to combine car, bus and rail for their journeys. It is intended to enhance regional connectivity and offer a reliable alternative to car-only trips.
The enlarged Park and Ride will be fully accessible and include covered cycle shelters, CCTV with security fencing and low-impact floodlighting, alongside improved pedestrian routes.
The main construction phase is scheduled to begin in January 2026. Parking and access to Ballymena Bus/Train Station will remain open and unaffected for passengers throughout the works.
FP McCann particularly welcomes interest from local sub-contractors and suppliers. A 392-space extension at Ballymena Bus/Rail Station, part of Translink's Better Connected plan, will start construction in January 2026 with station access maintained throughout.
